With every day Tobi and I get more insight view on what it means maintaining and living on and of an organic farm and the work rhythm is crazy! It's unbelievable what those guys have built up here! Well soon, we'll come up with a blog entry about the farm itself.
Those who read the last blog entry on Saturday might remember that we were just about heading out to explore some music and nightlife. So our first stop was Telkwa, the closest town nearby the farm in about 20-30km. It has 1500 habitants and it was in 1906 that the first European settlers put down stakes at this place that First Nations referred to as "Where Rivers meet". Now the slogan of the town is where "Rivers meet and friends gather". So regarding this slogan you might think there should be some nice pubs but actually there aren't. There's only one pub which looks so shabby and scruffy - just the way you imagine a pub in a godforsaken Wild Western town. In the past, Telkwa was a central restocking spot for prospectors following the call of the Gold Rush and the town itself is really beautiful in its natural surroundings with rivers and mountains but not so its pubs. But on the other hand the pub was so damn ran-down that it somehow had style and nevertheless Tobi and me had fun - we like bars like that! It was fun talking to the farmers - watch the video!
